Everyone loves a good film. With Easter here, it's the perfect time to head to the cinema, sit back and relax. It's also a great way to keep the kids quiet for a few hours.
Oreo, the biscuit maker, has researched the city's top ten favourite film moments and the top ten films that cross the generation.
As part of the national survey, they found that Mancunians actually chose differently to the rest of the country. Manchester awarded the best family film of all time to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with Mary Poppins voted as the favourite film to span the generations.
More than 2,000 family members were involved in the poll across the UK. Overall, the boy wizard’s discovery at King’s Cross station in Harry Potter narrowly beat the scene from Mary Poppins featuring the chimney sweep rooftop dance, as the best film moment.
The timeless Disney classic also provided another top ten film moment when Mary Poppins, (Julie Andrews), the children and Bert the chimney sweep (Dick van Dyke) jump into the chalk picture.
Jocelyn McNulty, Biscuits Director at Kraft Foods UK and Ireland said: “These are the truly magical moments from family films which are so familiar that even if you haven't seen it for years, you still remember it as if it was yesterday. You only need one really good scene to make the whole film memorable but some timeless classic have the bonus of including several wonderful moments.”
Oreo has joined forces with Vue cinemas and throughout summer they're inviting families to visit their local Vue cinema for a chance to see an advanced screening of top family blockbusters. For further information about participating cinemas in your area visit oreofamilymovies.co.uk
