SATURDAY 15 October see's the book launch of 'A Taste of Modern History', a historical recipe book journey through North West cuisine. To celebrate, the Manchester Food Festival has a arranged a special day out. Families are invited to join in on a foodie, floating trip exploring the region's historic waterways that connect Manchester and The Quays.
The day starts with a visit to The People's History Museum, then climb on board and enjoy the waterways ride to the Quays with kids activities plus a regional tasty snack with a historical twist. Jump onto dry land at the Quays where you can experience pop-up dark room activities at Imperial War Museum North, visit The Lowry or encounter choirs, sculpture and fitness fanatics as you explore around and about.
There'll be three boats running throughout the day; 11.30am, 1.15pm and 3pm and journeys will last about 30 - 40 minutes each. It's wise to book a place as soon as you can as family boat rides sold out very quickly last year.
Tour starts from 11.30am at the Mark Addy on Stanley Street, Salford. It's £6 per person (includes snacks) for the outward journey only.
Return by boat depart at 12.30pm, 2.15pm and 4pm on a first come first served basis and is included for ticket holders or £1.50 without. Alternatively, make the most of the Quays and come back via tram. The cost of tram not included in ticket price.
