Free Halloween fun at Kendals

It is thought to be the world's oldest department store, and this Halloween, it could also be the world's spookiest. House of Fraser Kendals will play host to all manner of petrifying creatures and activities for children, and there will be a special visit from the stars of Nick Jr. and Milkshake show Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom.

A ‘creepy crawlies petting zoo’ with lizards, cockroaches, snakes and spiders will satisfy even the bravest child’s thirst for terror.

The frightsome fun starts on Saturday 30 October when, between 11-3pm, there will be a ‘creepy crawlies petting zoo’. Lizards, cockroaches, snakes and spiders will satisfy even the bravest child’s thirst for terror.

The organisers would like all children to wear their scariest fancy dress outfit so they can become real little monsters.

Ben and Holly from Milkshake and Nickelodeon Juniors hit show Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom will be there from 2pm until 3.30pm. They'll meet and greet all children, and pick the winner of the best fancy dress outfit competition.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and to the runners-up. Courtesy of Art You Grew Up With Gallery on 6th, the lucky winner will receive limited-edition signed artwork from the show or Ben and Holly character editions.

For adults and children with a sweet tooth, there will be a Halloween cupcake decorating class. Other festive activities include face-painting and a creepy crawly hunt around the store.

Then on Sunday 31 October a Monster Masterclass hosted by Art You Grew Up With, will run from 11am until 2pm where children will learn how to draw the things that go bump in the night – from ghosts to witches and everything in between.

Prizes will be given for the best drawings, so the organisers are expecting to see some truly scary artwork.

If you want a free Halloween treat for the little ones, take them to the 6th floor House of Fraser Kendals on Saturday 30 or Sunday 31 October – and don't forget the fancy dress
