Learn movie-making at the Apple Store

Creative kids will like the sound of this summer holiday activity at the Apple Stores in the Arndale and Trafford Centre. They're putting on free summer camps where eight to 12-year-olds can learn the basics of movie-making.

The Apple Summer Camp culminates in a one hour film festival where kids get to showcase their film to parents, relatives and friends.

The summer camps span three days. During the first one and a half hour session, campers will learn the basics of moviemaking, including theme selection and storyboarding. On the second day, they will be introduced to the Apple iMovie package, editing the video footage they created and adding stills and music to produce their film. The Apple Summer Camp culminates in a one hour film festival where kids get to showcase their film to parents, relatives and friends.

The camps run between Monday 26 July and Saturday 7 August. It doesn’t matter whether your youngster is a seasoned user or completely new to the Mac. Campers can bring their own digital camera or video camera to Summer Camp if they wish, giving them a chance to see how it works with a Mac. Or the Apple Store can provide what they need on the day.

And any adult with a child taking part in Summer Camp can attend a special parental workshop that runs on day one. This one-hour session provides an insight into the parental control features on a Mac, including managing web browsing and ensuring your kids’ safety while they’re online.

A word of warning – if you haven't got a Mac already, don't be surprised if you find a request for one on the next birthday/Christmas list.

Placed are limited and workshops fill up quickly. For more information and to book in, click here.
