It is not just William and Kate who have something to celebrate over the bank holiday weekend. After years of absence, the East Lancashire Railway is pleased to see Thomas and Friends visiting the railway for three days from Saturday 30 April – Monday 2 May, between 10am – 4pm.
With the full entertainment schedule announced, staff and volunteers are preparing for one of the railway’s biggest events of 2011.
For all fans of the little blue engine, the three-day event will see Thomas riding up and down his own branch line, the Fat Controller making sure Thomas and his friends behave, lots of hands-on kids activities such as a pottery workshop, Punch & Judy and a circus show plus more entertainment including temporary Thomas tattoos, face-painting, story-reading and film screenings.

There is no pre-booking required and families are welcome to turn up on the day. Day Out With Thomas is a full-day event, however, so visitors are advised to arrive before lunchtime and allow at least four hours for their visit.
The April weekend is the first out of a series of three Day Out With Thomas events. Two additional events take place on the 6 – 7 August and 1 – 2 October 2011.
