The Kids Food Festival

MANCHESTER Food and Drink Festival is set to create a town of mini Jamie Olivers and Nigella Lawsons as it prepares to host its first ever mini festival dedicated entirely to children.

The Kids Food Festival will take place in the marquee in the Festival Hub in Albert Square from 11am on Sunday 9 October and entry is free.

2011 10 05 Boy EatingThe marquee will be transformed into a family food adventure where children will be able to try their hands at a full range of gastronomically inspiring activities including Cookie making with Home Sweet Home, Food story telling with Waterstone’s, lessons in bee-keeping and how honey is made with the Manchester and District Bee Keepers, cupcake decorating classes, Kids allotment classes, cookery academy and even a kids mini chocolate factory.

Festival Director Siobhan Hanley comments “Last year’s Village Fete was really popular with families and we wanted to build on that and provide something really vibrant around food, all under one roof that families can enjoy together - there’s plenty for the grown ups to do on site too with the bar, entertainment, street food, wine tasting, and most importantly, its all free”.
