Noisy Monsters Usborne 9781409507390 (£12.99)
Noisy Monsters is the latest in Usborne’s fantastic Noisy series and is a great celebration of all things monster. Babies will love hearing these eight cheeky monsters roaring, bouncing, crunching, chomping and burping. Full of large and bright illustrations it’s sure to delight all our little monsters.

Mimi and Moochie go Shopping Margaret Chamberlain, Hodder Children’s Books, 9780340970829 (£5.99)
This is a wonderful book for sharing with young children – especially ones partial to a shopping spree. Mimi and Moochie decide they really need new shoes, accessories and clothes. They embark on a wonderful shopping trip but discover that giving away their new things to those in need is much more rewarding than the shopping itself. The beautiful bright red and pink illustrations and rhyming text will entertain young children and parents will also have a laugh at the hilarious frivolity – 'Look at those shoes – they’re got ribbons AND bows.’ ‘Oh Mimi,’ says Moochie, ‘I’ve got to have those!’

Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree Andy Stanton, Egmont, 9781405252188 (£5.99)
If you, or your child, haven’t come across Mr Gum yet you don’t know what you’re missing. Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree is book seven in this series of ridiculous adventures, and the best yet. That dastardly villain, Mr Gum, is up to no good again, tricking and teasing our poor heroine Polly. Short and punchy chapters, crazy illustrations and more onomatopoeia than you could shake a stick at, the Mr Gum series is perfect for young readers who are just discovering the joys of reading for pleasure. Read them out loud and I dare you not to cry with laughter.

The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid , Rick Riordan, Puffin, 9780141384948, (£12.99)
Fans of Rick Riordan’s smash success Percy Jackson series are going to be thrilled by his latest novel. The first in a proposed series, The Red Pyramid follows the adventures of two children, Carter and Sadie, who although are brother and sister, do not know each other. Their mother, a celebrated archaeologist, died mysteriously when they were very young and their father, a brilliant Egyptologist, disappears in a failed attempt to bring the family together. Now orphaned, Carter and Sadie must travel across continents to hunt down an ancient Egyptian God and stop him from destroying the world. Heavy, I know. Riordan doesn’t do anything by halves and his latest delve into ancient historical fiction is jam-packed with relevant legends that will no-doubt inspire a new trend in Egyptology just as Percy Jackson revealed the world of Greek mythology to his readers. I’m on the edge of my seat for the next in this series.
