Cherry Vimto and Prom Royalty have launched a competition for girls to design their perfect prom dress.
Mancunian prom-goers prepare for their big night three months ahead and name Cheryl Cole and High School Musical star Zac Efron as their perfect prom partners.
The search is on for a budding designer to devise the ultimate dream prom dress, which will be brought to life and created especially for their big night or other special occasion. A limited edition version will also be available for sale on the Prom Royalty website with the proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Victoria Ward of Prom Royalty says: “The school prom has grown phenomenally in the UK and is fast becoming a rite of passage. In the last few years getting the perfect prom dress has taken on a new importance and many girls will still be talking about who wore which dress for years to come.”
Victoria, one of the UK’s foremost prom commentators, will be heading up the judging panel together with the Vimto team. They want to see designs which marry a fun and flirty attitude with sleek sophistication, to create an original dress with timeless appeal.
The high school prom was voted the most important event of the school year by 16-18-year-olds who took part in a survey by Cherry Vimto. The survey also revealed that Manchester prom-goers spend more on their big night than anywhere else in the UK.
Manchester teens spend an average of £650 on their end of year prom, which is £200 more than the national average and over £300 more than counterparts in nearby Liverpool.
The price tag includes £200 on an outfit, over £100 on transport, around £80 on grooming, over £70 on flowers, £80 on accessories and over £90 on shoes.
The survey also looked into how long teenagers spend planning their proms and who their perfect prom date would be. Mancunian prom-goers prepare for their big night three months ahead and name Cheryl Cole and High School Musical star Zac Efron as their perfect prom partners.
To ensure that teenagers enjoy their final school years and experience a prom to remember, Cherry Vimto has launched www.cherryprom.co.uk with style tips, competitions, cocktails and more. There, you can also enter the prom dress competition by uploading or sending in your sketches. The competition closes on 14 June 2010.
