The Rock, Bury’s huge retail and leisure destination, may already have had its launch party when it opened earlier this year, but it was last Thursday’s Christmas lights switch-on event that really confirmed its arrival on the shopping scene.
Christmas lights switch on events need to be made of magic and The Rock didn’t fail to disappoint the thousands of spectators who turned out. The night started with readings from the Chronicles of Narnia to all the children, leaving the kids enchanted as the night moved on to a lantern parade through the complex. Residents of Bury were also treated to stilt walkers, the finalists of the Rock’s search for a street star, fashion shows, a Take That tribute band and even Minnie and Mickey Mouse made an appearance.
The highlight of the evening was the big light switch-on and the unveiling of the Snowglobe. This spectacular oversized Snowglobe is now open to the public and provides the perfect photo experience and an interactive alternative to the traditional Santa’s Grotto, appealing to visitors of all ages. You can climb inside it to enjoy the winter wonderland that awaits and have festive photographs taken with family and friends.
As well as the festive treats people were also able to browse the vast array of shops such as Game, Topshop, River Island, Oasis, H&M, Debenhams, Superdry and Marks and Spencer to start their Christmas shopping early.
With ample parking, late night shopping, entertainment and dining venues all in one place then The Rock should be one destination you should be heading to if you want to wrap up your Christmas needs in one go.
