When I was pregnant with Harry I always vowed that I would never do a Liz Hurley and dress him in clothes that would emotionally scar him or confuse his identity. I was also adamant he’d never have a bad haircut.
But Lord I have broken my vows.
For Harry’s first Christmas I dressed him up as Rudolph the reindeer. Numerous photographs were taken to mark the occasion, which will be showcased at his 21st. I also made the fatal mistake of allowing Harry’s dad take him to the local barbers for a £3 haircut which turned him to a mini Fryer Tuck.
From that day forward, I decided I would take no chances and booked Harry into Little Big Heads in Wilmslow.
Little Big Heads is a hairdressers created solely to keep children entertained while their hair magically disappears without a sniffle or pretend tears. There’s television screens for watching their favourite cartoons or CBBC and barber’s chairs designed for children so hair can be snipped without them having to perch on their parent’s laps.
When Harry and I arrive at the Little Big Heads we are greeted by Jenny, Harry’s stylist who shows him to his barber’s chair infront of ‘Big Cook Little Cook’. Jenny and I discuss styles. Naturally I rule out Fryer Tuck or Bzzzzzz Cut (head shaving) so we agree on a general tidy up of the back and sides to stop him resembling Worzel Gummage.
Whilst Jenny keeps Harry amused, I put my ‘Sleuth’ cap on and investigate. Little Big Heads has a room filled with lots of toys including a Playstation so boredom doesn’t set in. There’s also internet access for parents so the whole family can get their hair done without having to get a babysitter while they have their own mop attended to.
As well as fab hairdos, they host magical Little Princess Parties, where your angel (sorry boys) can host a party for all her friends and pretend to be mummy by having nails and hair done. Popular with the Cheshire set, Jenny has even seen little princesses arriving in stretch limousines at the age of six. WAGs in training.
Even though I am his mummy and generally quite biased, Harry looked gorgeous, especially with the finishing touches of wax to help his hair spike. So from now on Little Big Heads is Harry’s designated hairdresser.
It’s another Georgina and Harry go go go.
