Totseat is the washable, squashable and portable highchair ideal for when eating out or travelling with children. Made of robust, machine washable poly cotton, the Totseat travel highchair incorporates four unique features:

• An integral cummerbund which creates a back support on open backed chairs
• A button pleat to fit either high backed, or low backed chairs
• Buttons for al fresco chairs
• A strong clasp which fastens behind the chair at the level of the child's head, making it extra safe, quick and easy to use.

The Totseat travel high-chair has won a host of nursery and design awards, including the Scottish Design Award, Practical Pre-School Award, Mumsnet Best Award, Baby World Mums Love Award and Gift of the Year 2009 award. Totseat Ltd was also a finalist in the National Business Awards for Scotland.

First impressions: Compact. Comes in a small travel pouch that easily fits inside a standard baby changing bag or even a medium sized handbag. Available in lots of different colours and fabric designs. Our sample is in a trendy denim fabric.

Convenience: Surprisingly easy. Simply slip over the chair back, adjust the length and clip firmly. The various chairs we tried it out on worked just fine. The website also has concise instructions that are simple to follow.

Pros: Believe it or not, there are still many restaurants and cafes in Manchester that have no high-chairs for little ones. Having this simple, small high-chair avoids disappointment and the annoyance of encountering such a problem.

Cons: The high-chairs’ age recommendation is babies who can sit up unaided (six to eight months) up to 30 months. But, if you have a very big, strong and active 22 month-old, the high-chair can’t restrain the possible (inevitable) wanderings.

Value for money: Worth the fee. Good quality fabric and an overall well made product.

The verdict: A travelling mummy must-have, a social babies basic.
