Working mum
Those who follow my career, will know I managed to not only write, edit and release my first book by the time Summer was 12 months-old, but also publicise the thing – which took just as many hours as writing it.
As I try to meet deadlines Summer approaches, tugs on my clothes, gets under my feet (literally) and pulls at the computer wire.
With this in mind I assumed as Summer got older the task of looking after her would become somewhat easier, and I could therefore increase my workload. Unfortunately this hasn’t been the case.
As I try to meet deadlines Summer approaches, tugs on my clothes, gets under my feet (literally) and pulls at the computer wire. As she’s getting older and becoming more intrigued by her surroundings I have found myself keeping her entertained by committing the cardinal sin of putting the television on so I can sneak in some work - but even that doesn’t keep her entertained for long.
For anyone that is childless and writes for a living, cherish the time you have to ponder over your words as when you have kids you have to get out what you need to say as soon as possible. The dream of sitting in Starbucks with a laptop and cappuccino grows by the day.
Calories count
News has surfaced that a calorie labelling sche14me to help diners watch what they eat in restaurants is being launched by the Government later this year.
It has been said that some of the country’s largest restaurant chains will be getting involved including McDonald’s, Nando’s, KFC and Subway.
I’m thrilled with the idea and hope more food outlets will sign up to the voluntary scheme. I couldn’t believe it when I ordered nachos last week and later found out there were 2,500 calories nesting within the potato chips, dips and cheese.
Grown-up girls
This week myself and Summer had a three-hour photo shoot with Mother and Baby magazine (for October 2010 edition). I was so impressed with my little girl. She was playful and relaxed despite five outfit and six location changes. As she’s getting older her sunny nature is really starting to form and I’m finding everyday an adventure with her.
My 25th birthday is approaching in a matter of weeks and I have found myself dreaming of the perfect present. As I vacuumed the entire house on my hands and knees a few days ago my desire for a new vacuum cleaner grew stronger. Who would have thought that for my 25th I’d be praying someone (AKA the boyfriend), buys me cleaning equipment– as well as the Manolo’s, obviously.
