Many of us are old enough to remember the world before the internet and it wasn't so bad, was it?
Two-year-old's now dominate family iPad's.
A new survey of 1,000 youngsters in the UK aged between eight and sixteen, suggests that life without access to the internet would affect them emotionally.
60 per cent of the teenagers questioned admitted they would feel sad without a web connection with 48 per cent admitted that they'd feel lonely.
It's no surprise that teenagers are the heaviest users of mobile devices but it may be a surprise to some that two-year-old's now dominate family iPad's.
The poll, called the 'Digital Futures' project, was carried out by Bristish research Intersperience. Chief executive to the company, Paul Hudson said: 'The fact that children have a strong emotional attachment to the internet is often regarded as a negative thing but in fact it is perfectly natural for a generation whose social life is largely online.
The survey found that 74 per cent of children under 12 played online games with 65 per cent using the internet for homework.
More than a third went online to look for things to buy or sell while youngsters also used the web to check prices for fashion items.
Mr Hudson said: 'Adults may be concerned about the strong emotional connection kids have to the internet today but our study shows that far from losing the art of conversation, children still prefer chatting to their friends in person.'
